Efficiently add capacity and boost network performance

Confronted with increasing cellular demand and the rapid rollout of 5G technology, mobile network operators must enhance capacity and improve network performance to stay competitive. Building and upgrading macro cell sites are critical to this effort, but traditional approaches are no longer sufficient in the era of 5G.

ANDREW® understands there is no single path to 5G and no universal solution for macro cell deployment. We collaborate with our customers to address these challenges through simple, efficient and sustainable solutions that can adapt to new standards and technologies to keep users connected today and in the future.

The smartest way to 5G

The MOSAIC® platform integrates active and passive antennas—built to specific network specifications—to power new 5G rollouts and support legacy networks within the same footprint as existing 4G passive antennas.

Patented interleaved technology makes the MOSAIC platform radio-agnostic and truly modular, so network operators can integrate with mMIMO radios from virtually any manufacturer. The result is a compact and highly customizable solution with key benefits.

Simplification

Upgrade to 4G/5G quickly in the same footprint. A plug-and-play design helps operators deploy active, passive or combined solutions quickly, without re-zoning the site. Easy, three-step deployment (lift, slide and tighten) speeds installation for faster 5G rollouts.

Network planning flexibility

Support specific passive configurations alongside active solutions. Choose the best radios for your network, from traditional OEMs or Open RAN suppliers, 32T32R or 64T64R. Upgrade without expanding footprints or affecting performance.

Lower TCO

A streamlined, modular design reduces total cost of ownership. MOSAIC installations do not require re-optimization of existing network coverage, which reduces site maintenance and troubleshooting costs by effectively managing PIM

High-efficiency BSA technology

seed-banner-1536x470

SEEDing a more sustainable network

Sustainable, energy-efficient design (SEED®) base station antenna (BSA) technology reduces required power consumption without affecting coverage — or it can be used to expand coverage area with existing power levels.

This increased gain opens exceptional flexibility. BSAs enabled with SEED equip operators to achieve a better balance of power consumption and network performance, helping to reduce energy consumption, CO2 emissions and OpEx.

Key benefits include:

Icon-DoubleWifi-own

Improved coverage and closed gaps around cell edges for better customer experiences.

Icon-Location-own

Potential to cover a region with fewer sites, which is especially valuable for new network areas.

Icon-Factory-own

Reduced energy consumption by up to 15% while keeping coverage and capacity intact.

Pragmatic network planning

It has never been more critical to right-size networks and pursue a balance of RAN performance and energy efficiency. To this end, 8T8R BSAs offer a more pragmatic alternative to 32T32R and 64T64R. Suitable for 70 to 80 percent of deployments, 8T8R BSAs enable greener networks and a smaller carbon footprint, especially for low- and medium-capacity applications. Key benefits include:

Reduced energy consumption

– Up to 30% less power consumption and CO₂ emissions than 32T32R
– Up to 50% less power consumption and CO₂ emissions than 64T64R

Lower TCO

– Reduced CapEx
– More tower space for upgrades
– Antenna shape optimized for wind-load reduction

Enhance network capacity

ANDREW multi-beam and stadium antennas offer a proven means of increasing wireless network capacity across large spaces that draw large crowds, without adding more spectrum.

Our broad portfolio of multi-beam antennas provides enhanced spectral efficiency to implement higher order sectorization for high-traffic sites or venues, making it possible to scale capacity as demand increases while avoiding the costs associated with building an additional cell site. These products are engineered with patented technology to maximize signal quality, antennas can be specified with up to six coverage beams within a 120° sector coverage area.

ANDREW stadium antennas provide high-capacity coverage for larger venues. The antennas provide symmetric beam coverage over a small portion of a field or seating area and are typically combined with the industry-leading, all-digital ANDREW ERA® DAS platform to provide seamless indoor connectivity.

Take your macro site to the next level.

Let’s discuss how ANDREW can help get you there.
